The Pumpkin Prayer Challenge Is Coming to Junior Church!

This October, Junior Church is taking children on a special month-long journey called The Pumpkin Prayer Challenge!
Just like a tiny pumpkin seed can grow into something much bigger, our prayers can help our relationship with Jesus grow. Throughout the month, children will discover that prayer isn't something we only do at church—it is something we can practice every day as we talk with God, trust Him, and grow closer to Him.
Our series memory verse will be Philippians 4:6, reminding us to bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving.
🌱 Week 1: Planting Your Prayer Seed
We'll begin by learning how small acts of faith can lead to spiritual growth. Through the story of the mustard seed in Matthew 17:20, children will discover that even a small amount of faith can make a big difference.
Children will begin their own daily prayer challenge and learn to make prayer a regular part of their day.
💧 Week 2: Nurturing Your Prayer Life
A seed needs consistent care to grow—and so does our relationship with Jesus.
We'll learn from Daniel's unwavering prayer life in Daniel 6:10-23, discovering the importance of staying connected to God through consistent prayer, even when life gets difficult.
🐋 Week 3: Overcoming Prayer Obstacles
Sometimes distractions, challenges, fear, or even our own choices can make it difficult to pray.
Through Jonah's story in Jonah 1-3, children will learn that challenges don't have to keep us from God. Even when we take a wrong turn, we can turn back to Him in prayer and find our way forward.
🙏 Week 4: Harvesting the Blessings
As we finish the challenge, we'll celebrate the blessings that come from a growing relationship with Jesus.
Through the story of the grateful leper in Luke 17:11-19, children will learn the importance of recognizing God's blessings and responding with gratitude.
🎃 More Than Just a Sunday Lesson
The Pumpkin Prayer Challenge is designed to continue throughout the week. Each week, children will receive simple, age-appropriate prayer activities they can practice at home—from praying for family and friends to giving thanks, asking God for help, and reflecting on His blessings.
Along the way, Junior Church will include engaging Bible stories, games, object lessons, crafts, memory verse activities, skits, discussion, and more.
Because Jesus loves us, we can always talk with Him in prayer.
Join us in Junior Church this October as we plant those prayer seeds, nurture them, overcome obstacles, and discover the blessings that grow when we stay connected to Jesus!
