God’s grace is infinitely abundant, yet we often find ourselves feeling disconnected from its power. In the first chapter of 1 John, the Apostle John addresses one of the greatest barriers to experiencing God's love: self-deception. When we claim to be without sin or pretend that we have no need for forgiveness, we shut out the very grace that seeks to heal and restore us.

Rev. Romy Velasco explores how vulnerability and confession break down these obstacles. John reminds us that if we admit our shortcomings, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We have an Advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One—who bridges the gap caused by our mistakes and restores our relationship with God.

Removing the obstacles to grace leads us into a lifestyle of obedience and love. Knowing Christ is not simply about intellectual agreement, but about walking as He walked and allowing His truth to be perfected in us. When we let go of pride and embrace honest confession, we experience the freedom and peace that only God's unmerited favor can bring.

This Sunday is also Communion Sunday, offering us a beautiful opportunity to put these truths into practice. As we come to the Holy Table to receive the bread and cup, we are reminded of the price paid for our redemption.
