Sunday School Preview: August 23 – Called For Such a Time as This

Adult Sunday School at Green Camp United Methodist Church provides a meaningful opportunity for individuals to grow in their understanding of Scripture and strengthen their relationship with God. Through open discussion and shared reflection, participants are encouraged to connect biblical truths with the realities of everyday life.

On Sunday, August 23, our lesson, Called For Such a Time as This, will focus on Esther 1–10 and Psalms 79–96. The book of Esther tells the story of a woman placed in a position of influence at a critical moment in the history of her people. Though God's name is not explicitly mentioned in Esther, His providence can be seen throughout the story as events unfold and deliverance comes at just the right time.

Esther's story challenges us to consider that the circumstances in which we find ourselves may have a greater purpose than we realize. Her courage, willingness to act, and concern for others remind us that God can use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things when they are willing to step forward in faith.

The Psalms included in this lesson add another dimension to the theme, expressing both the struggles of God's people and their continued confidence in Him. Through prayer, remembrance, and praise, the psalmists demonstrate the importance of turning to God even when circumstances are difficult.

During this lesson, participants will reflect on what it means to recognize God's purpose in the season of life in which we find ourselves. We will discuss how to respond when opportunities to serve require courage, how to trust God when His plan is not immediately visible, and how our faith can help us respond faithfully to the circumstances around us.

This lesson encourages us to consider the possibility that we, too, have been placed where we are for a reason. God can use our experiences, relationships, gifts, and opportunities to make a difference. Like Esther, we may discover that we are called for such a time as this.

Adult Sunday School meets every Sunday at 9:30 AM, followed by worship at 10:30 AM. We invite you to join us as we continue learning, growing, and discovering how God is at work in every season of our lives.
