This past Sunday, our congregation gathered for a heartfelt and joy-filled celebration of Mother’s Day during worship. The service was a beautiful blend of music, reflection, and gratitude as we honored the love, strength, and faith of mothers and mother figures in our lives.
Our morning began with a special musical offering from the Green Camp UMC Choir, who shared a moving rendition of “Lord Be Glorified.” Their voices set a reverent and uplifting tone for the service, reminding us of the importance of centering our lives in God’s presence.
Following the choir, Chona Velasco led us in a touching “Mother’s Moments” message. Through her words, we were invited to reflect on the everyday faithfulness, sacrifices, and quiet strength that define motherhood. It was a meaningful time that resonated deeply with many in attendance.
The service continued with a special musical performance by Jodi Porter and Karen Stover, who presented “M-O-T-H-E-R.” This nostalgic piece, rooted in children’s programs from many years ago at Green Camp UMC, brought smiles and warm memories to those who have been part of our church family across generations. It was a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact of faith and tradition.
Reverend Romeo Velasco then delivered a powerful sermon titled “The Persistent Mother.” His message highlighted the enduring faith, resilience, and determination often seen in mothers, drawing connections to the ways God calls each of us to live with persistence and trust. It was both encouraging and challenging, offering inspiration for all—whether mothers or not—to live faithfully in every season.
We are grateful for the opportunity to come together in worship and celebrate the incredible role of mothers in our lives and in our faith community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special service so meaningful.
If you missed any part of the service—or would like to experience it again—we invite you to watch the videos above and reflect on the ways God continues to work through the love and faith of mothers.
