Norma Beverly Randles Obituary

Norma Beverly Randles, 98 formerly of Big Island, died Wednesday March 5, 2025 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo.


She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 30, 1927 to the late Lester and Goldie (Stratton) Matson. After graduation, she went to work in Washington DC in 1945 as a file clerk for the FBI. While there she met a handsome young Army soldier by the name of James Randles. They fell in love and married in Richwood on April 13, 1946, he died March 25, 1992. They farmed in Marion County while raising their family.


In the 1960's she went to work at Wyandot Popcorn Factory in Marion. She worked many different positions during her over 30 years with the company.

After retirement she volunteered at Mobile Meals in Marion.


She traveled back to Iowa at least once a year to visit family and friends. She enjoyed going back for class reunions to hear how classmates were doing.


She kept her hands busy with her many talents of needlepoint, cross stitch, and crocheting. Many family members were blessed to receive items from her.

Loved working on crossword puzzles, reading books and doing Bible Study.


Surviving are her children, David (Betty) Randles of Charlotte, North Carolina, Charles (Marsha) Randles of Bowling Green and Beverly Fowler of Pemberville.

grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Miller, Michele (Hayes) Norris, Bryan (Holly) Randles, Mark Randles and Steven Randles.

great grandchildren Jamie Miller and Camden Miller.

sister Shirley Gates of Des Moines Iowa.

She was also preceded by siblings, Ruth Longden, Mary Dunlap, Richard Matson and James Matson.


Funeral services will be held Thursday March 13, 2025 at 12 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Pastor Josh Freshour will officate. Burial will follow in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home in LaRue.
