Every great endeavor requires a clear sense of purpose, but no mission in history carries the weight and eternal significance of the one undertaken by Jesus Christ. This week, we examine the laser-focus of Jesus’s ministry. In the Gospel of Matthew, we witness the enemy offering Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would only compromise. Jesus’s immediate refusal demonstrates that His mission could never be bought or achieved through shortcuts.

Rev. Romy Velasco connects this temptation with the deep theological truth found in the Gospel of John. Jesus explicitly states that He did not come to earth to fulfill His own human desires or ambitions, but rather to execute the perfect will of the Father. This complete submission to God's plan is the very foundation of the grace we stand on today.

As we reflect on these scriptures, we are challenged to look at our own daily choices. Are we easily swayed by the immediate, glittering offers of the world, or are we remaining faithful to the unique mission God has placed on our lives? Following Jesus means laying down our personal agendas so that we can be active participants in His divine work.

This Sunday is also Communion Sunday, a sacred time where we naturally gather around the Lord's table. Sharing in the holy meal serves as a tangible reminder of the sacrifice required to fulfill Christ’s mission. It is an opportunity to reset our hearts, receive spiritual nourishment, and connect deeply with our congregation. We warmly invite you to join us in this time of worship and holy fellowship.
